Strengthening Platform Performance Through a Strategic Cloud Migration
A fast-growing digital marketplace required a technology foundation capable of delivering consistent performance for both buyers and sellers. As platform usage increased, the existing environment limited flexibility and made it increasingly difficult to balance scalability and cost efficiency.
To address these challenges, the marketplace partnered with Insignia to migrate its core services from Microsoft Azure to AWS.

Challenge
Maintaining Marketplace Performance as Transaction Volumes Increase
As user activity and transaction volumes grew, the marketplace needed to ensure that browsing, search, and checkout experiences remained fast and reliable. Search performance and backend stability became critical to maintaining trust and engagement across both sides of the platform.
At the same time, the system required a more resilient design to support higher workloads without increasing operational complexity or inefficiency.

Strategy
A Phased Migration Focused on Performance and System Resilience
Insignia designed a two-phase execution approach to strengthen the marketplace’s core platform while managing risk effectively.
Phase 1: Improving Core Reliability and Search Experience
The first phase focused on migrating the marketplace backend to AWS. Core services were deployed on highly available compute infrastructure, while a managed search service was introduced to strengthen product discovery and browsing experiences.
This phase ensured smoother transactions and consistent performance for both buyers and sellers during peak usage.
Phase 2: Establishing Event-Driven Service Communication
The second phase focused on improving system responsiveness by redesigning inter-service communication. An event-driven architecture was implemented to decouple critical services. This allows order processing, notifications, and inventory updates to run efficiently.
This approach reduced dependency between services, improved fault tolerance, and supported smoother end-to-end workflows across the platform.

Outcome
A Stronger and More Resilient Marketplace Foundation
Following the migration, the marketplace now operates on a more reliable and high-performing cloud foundation. System stability, scalability, and responsiveness have improved across core services, and event-driven communication supports smoother business processes.
Together, these improvements deliver a better experience for users and position the platform to support future growth with greater operational efficiency.
